One of the most versatile of the Wilton Cake Pans has to be this oh so simple Sports Ball shaped pan.  Yes, you can create your loved ones favorite sports ball, but with a little imagination you can also create just about anything else spherical that you can think of!

Of course creating baseballs or basketballs is a fun idea for a sports fan’s birthday, but suns, flowers and even dinosaurs can be created around a circular cake.

This is a neat 6″ diameter ball, made from two half spheres, each taking 2.5 cups of batter mix.  There are instructions included on decorating ideas, but this is one where you can really let yourself go.  Use the whole sphere for planets, or halves individually to create animals, toys or whatever you fancy that has a circular shape!  It might not be one of the most imaginative shaped cake pans, but it is one of the most useful to own – and if your boys love sports, all the better!
